I used Caron simply soft yarn in grape raisin for this blanket. Yes, it takes seven skeins of yarn, but it is totally worth it. The edging itself took one and a half skeins of yarn. The blanket is extremely thick and soft. It turned out to be about 36" by 36".
Here is the pattern I used: Baby Blanket Pattern

I used a tutorial from everythingetsy.com(i tried to put a link in, but it's not working). My bag handles were 7.5 inches by 7.5 inches, so I used different measurements than the tutorial suggested.
This t shirt was a size large and I turned it into a size small/medium. Basically, I traced a shirt that fit me on to the large shirt with chalk, sewed those lines, and cut off the extra fabric. It took 4 hours because my sewing machine was totally messing up the stitches, so I cleaned and oiled it using the manual and this tutorial. Then it worked really well:) I made the flower hair clip with the extra fabric.
